the goliad massacre
In March of 1836 James Fannin, commanded some 350 men in Goliad. Fannin was given orders to retreat to Victoria following the Battle of the Alamo. On Palm Sunday, March 27, 1836, only weeks after the Texan defeat of the Alamo Fannin and his men were captured by the Mexican army. Fannin and his men were executed on March 27, 1836 in what is know as The Goliad Massacre (Cole, Melanie).
